ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Luis Gonzales and I am a graduating senior at the University of Washington majoring in Human Centered Design & Engineering. My core values include making my family proud and helping others on their path to success. In terms of making my family proud, I come from a single parent and Mexican immigrant household, making me not only the first in my family to graduate from high school but soon the first in my family to graduate from a university. In doing so, I would be an example for my younger brother, showing him and those around me that regardless of the adversities we have faced, we can still succeed if we work hard and never give up on our dreams. Similarly, helping others on their path to success has been a core value because a lot of people have helped me get where I am today and I feel it is of utmost importance for me to help others the same way I was helped.

My unique leadership identities include being a founder, explorer, and decipherer of ambiguity. First, as a founder I set out to found an organization and set the foundation for a platform to empower, unify, and develop leadership skills for any male willing to take on the challenge. Second, I have found myself to be an explorer in both the traditional sense of the word, but also in the sense that I continually explore new ways to push my comfort zone to new limit. This allows me to be comfortable in even more diverse and difficult situations. Third, as a decipherer of ambiguity I am constantly evaluating situations, concepts, and problems to ensure everyone has a clear understanding of our responsibilities and how to best address the given situation.

Ultimately, I do what I do to help others overcome their personal adversities, reach their goals, and at the same time learn how to face my own adversities and make my own dreams a reality. In the future I aspire to continually find ways to do what I have done in the past—help others. Hopefully, in the future the only difference will be the scope and reach of my platform.
